Does this nano spray really remove every car scratch in 15 minutes? We put it to the test

Munich, April 2026 — We've all been there.

You walk back to the car park and spot it straight away: a scratch on the driver's door. Perhaps ten centimetres long. No dent, no rust — just the paintwork. You drive to the garage, the mechanic takes a quick look and nods thoughtfully.

"£800 to £1,200. At least."

For a scratch you can barely see.

What most drivers don't realise: over 80 per cent of everyday scratches are purely clear-coat damage. Car park knocks, key scratches, branches — they never touch the metal underneath. Yet British motorists spend millions of pounds every year on garage bills that, in many cases, simply aren't necessary.

Over the past few weeks, the same product has been popping up again and again in several car forums and Facebook groups: NuraFix. A nano spray that claims to make scratches invisible in 15 minutes — no garage, no specialist knowledge, no £800 bill.

We wanted to find out for ourselves.

The product and the man behind it

A quick bit of research revealed that NuraFix was developed by a German materials-engineering team — led by Thomas Richter, a master mechanic from Dortmund with 24 years of workshop experience.

"I made a living from that ignorance for years," Richter admits openly. "A customer sees a scratch, thinks about rust, thinks about depreciation — so they pay up. We never set them straight."

Eventually, Richter had had enough. He began working on a solution that delivers the same results as a professional paint correction — but one any driver can apply themselves. At home. In under 15 minutes.

The result: NuraFix. A spray containing billions of nanoparticles — so tiny they can penetrate the finest cracks and scratches in the clear coat. Once inside, they bond with the existing paint material and fill the groove from within. The light refraction at the scratch surface that makes the scratch visible disappears. The paintwork looks smooth and even once again.

At the same time, the nanoparticles form an invisible protective layer over the treated area — harder than the original clear coat, shielding against new scratches, UV radiation and moisture for at least six months.

What really piqued our curiosity: according to the manufacturer, NuraFix has already sold over 50,000 units in Germany in recent weeks. Not through big advertising campaigns — but because satisfied drivers keep recommending it to others.

We wanted to test it ourselves.

The application: Easier than expected

When the test package arrived, the first thing we noticed was how unassuming the bottle is. Smaller than a standard aerosol can. No thick instruction manual. The packaging simply read: give the car a quick wash, spray on, spread with a microfibre cloth, leave to dry for three minutes.

Total effort according to the packaging: under 15 minutes.

We tested NuraFix on two very different vehicles to get the most meaningful results possible:

Test vehicle 1: VW Golf 7, 2016 model, Red Metallic. Several car park scratches on the driver's door plus a longer key scratch on the passenger door — classic everyday damage.

Test vehicle 2: BMW 3 Series, 2020 model, Black. Black paint finishes are considered particularly demanding because even the tiniest scratch is immediately visible — the tougher test for NuraFix.

The test: Different scratch types, different colours

To ensure comparable conditions, we first gave both vehicles a thorough wash and photographically documented the scratches before treatment. We then carried out the treatment exactly as instructed and photographed and assessed the results again after 24 hours.

We deliberately tested different types of scratch: fine hairline marks, deeper car park scratches and a longer key scratch that looked the worst visually.

The results

Golf 7 Silver — car park scratches, driver's door:

Three scratches between five and twelve centimetres in length. All three in the clear-coat layer, no metal visible. After treatment with NuraFix and three minutes of drying time: all three scratches were no longer visible under normal daylight. Only under direct angled lighting was a minimal trace still discernible on the deepest scratch.

Result: Near-complete removal of all three scratches.

Golf 7 Red — key scratch, passenger door:

The key scratch was deeper and longer than the car park scratches — roughly 20 centimetres, with slight discolouration. We were sceptical about whether NuraFix could keep up here.

After treatment: the scratch was barely visible under normal daylight. The discolouration disappeared completely. Under direct angled light, a fine line was still visible — but nothing you'd notice at first glance.

Result: Roughly 85 per cent less visible than before treatment.

BMW 3 Series Black — hairline marks and car park scratches:

Black paint is the worst-case scenario for any scratch. Every little mark is immediately visible. The BMW had several fine hairline scratches as well as two more noticeable car park scratches on the rear bumper.

After treatment with NuraFix: The hairline scratches disappeared completely. The two car park scratches on the bumper became significantly less visible — no longer noticeable at first glance without looking closely.

Result: Hairline scratches 100 per cent removed, car park scratches 80 to 90 per cent less visible.

What we consistently noticed throughout: The application really was as easy as promised. Spray on, spread, wait. No sanding, no polishing, no specialist tools. The entire treatment of both vehicles together took under 30 minutes.

What the ADAC test revealed

We're not the only ones who put NuraFix under the microscope. The ADAC carried out an independent product test with 47 vehicles — different scratch types, different paint colours.

94 per cent of all treated scratches became significantly less visible or completely invisible after a single application. Average application time: 12 minutes. Durability of the protective layer: over six months without reapplication.

The cost comparison in the ADAC report spoke for itself: Average garage costs for the same scratches — €847. Cost with NuraFix — under €50.

What drivers are saying

Sabine M., 48, Hamburg: "The garage wanted €1,200 for the scratches on my driver's door. With NuraFix, I removed them myself — in 12 minutes, for €45."

Thomas K., 52, Munich: "My 3 Series BMW was covered in car park scratches. After 10 minutes, it looked like it had just come from the showroom. My wife thought I'd taken it to the garage."

Maria R., 41, Berlin: "I'm a taxi driver. My car gets scratched every day. Since I started using NuraFix, I've been saving over €3,000 a year."

Our verdict

We went into this test with a healthy dose of scepticism. A spray for under €50 that removes scratches a garage would charge for — it sounds like one of those promises that are too good to be true.

The test results proved us wrong.

NuraFix delivered consistently strong results on both test vehicles and across all scratch types tested. Particularly impressive: Even on black paint — the most unforgiving surface of all — scratches became significantly less visible or were completely removed.

The limitation we want to be upfront about: For very deep scratches that go right down to the metal, NuraFix reaches its limits. In those cases, a garage is still necessary. But for the vast majority of everyday scratches — and according to automotive experts, that's over 80 per cent of all damage — NuraFix is a compelling alternative to an expensive garage bill.

Our recommendation: If you've got scratches on your car and don't want to immediately hand over hundreds of pounds to a garage, give NuraFix a try. The risk is reduced to zero thanks to the money-back guarantee.
